If a motor neuron in a reflex arc is severed, the reflex arc will be incomplete and the reflex action will not be completed as there will be a break in the pathway between the sensory neuron, motor neuron and the effector. The sensory neuron will still be able to transmit the stimulus to the spinal cord, but the motor neuron will be unable to respond to the stimulus, and the effector (muscle or gland) will not be able to produce the intended response. This can result in a loss of reflexes, weakness, and impaired motor function.
