When titrating standard HCl to Na2CO3, the solution starts off acidic due to the presence of HCl. As the titration progresses, the HCl is gradually neutralized by the Na2CO3 until the solution reaches a pH of around 4. At this point, the bromocresol green indicator changes color from yellow to green. As the titration continues, the solution becomes more basic due to the excess Na2CO3 and the indicator eventually changes color from green to blue at a pH of around 5.4. Therefore, the change in color of the bromocresol green indicator signals the endpoint of the titration and indicates that all of the HCl has been neutralized by the Na2CO3.
