No, the Muslim calendar does not use BC (Before Christ) or AD (Anno Domini/Year of Our Lord) as it is a lunar calendar based on the cycles of the moon. The Muslim calendar, also known as the Islamic or Hijri calendar, starts from the year Prophet Muhammad migrated from Mecca to Medina in 622 CE. Each year of the calendar is 11 days shorter than the Gregorian calendar, which is used in most of the world, and therefore Muslim holidays and events shift annually in relation to the Gregorian calendar.
