Hyperopia, also known as farsightedness, is a condition where people can see distant objects clearly, but have difficulty seeing objects up close. In hyperopia, the eyeball is too short, or the cornea is too flat, which causes light to focus behind the retina instead of on it. This results in a blurry image for nearby objects. On the other hand, myopia, also known as nearsightedness, is a condition where people can see objects up close clearly, but have difficulty seeing objects far away. In myopia, the eyeball is too long or the cornea is too curved, causing light to focus in front of the retina instead of on it. This results in a blurry image for distant objects. Both conditions are common and can be corrected with glasses, contact lenses, or refractive surgery. However, they are opposite conditions that require different types of lenses to correct the focusing issue.
